Two people taken to hospital after multi-vehicle crash involving Post Office truck in Indio

Two people were transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash involving a post office truck in Indio Friday afternoon.

The accident happened on the corner of Avenue 44 & Market Street at around 4:40 p.m. Roads were closed for a short time but are expected to be back open shortly before 6:00 p.m.

According to co-workers at the scene, the post office truck driver was a female who was taken to Desert Regional with unknown injuries.

The driver of the other car was a male who suffered minor injuries to his face & head, a witness told KESQ / CBS Local 2 reporter Joe Galli. He was transported to a hospital.

Neighbors who live along Avenue 44 say crashes are common, and drivers come around the blind curve too fast.

“If there was some lights right there to tell people to slow down it would help a lot,” said Andrew Palma, who has seen several accidents on this street over the years.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
