Two-Alarm Fire Leaves La Quinta Family Homeless

A non-injury fire at a residence in La Quinta left a family of five homeless and caused about $350,000 damage, a fire official said Friday.

The blaze was reported at 2:45 a.m. in the 51000 block of Avenida Herrera, said Massiel De Guevara of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters put out the fire in about 30 minutes, De Guevara said.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family of two adults and three children, De Guevara said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
