Indio House Fire Ruled Arson

Cal-Fire is investigating a Saturday morning house fire that it says was caused by arson.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. on the 82300 block of Mountain View Avenue, which is near Avenue 44 and Monroe Street.

Twenty-eight firefighters were called to the scene, and found the house engulfed in flames.

They contained the fire within half an hour and kept it from spreading to nearby homes. Damage is estimated at $100,000.

No one was hurt.

No one was inside the home, but neighbors tell News Channel 3 that those who were living at the home had recently been evicted.

The fire department is asking anyone who may have information to call the Riverside County Fire Department Arson Hotline at (800) 633-2836.
