Desert Resort To Hire Dozens Employees
The Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa is opening it’s doors to 70 employees.
“I keep hearing there is a shortage on jobs that’s good to hear that there’s something else coming up,” said Diana Delatorre.
Delatorre is pleasantly surprised to hear about the openings.
She’s looking for more work. Right now, she works part time job at costco.
“Pretty much everyone that works with me, you’re kinda looking for the same thing. It’s just not enough hours to make ends meet. And if you can find something to go with what you have .. It’s hard,” she said.
The resort is hiring part-time, full-time and seasonal employees.
Everything from lifeguard, bartender, to working the front desk.
The new employees will beef up the resort’s staff to the highest level since 2008, when the economy hit the skids.
Management say the economy has recovered enough and they need the extra help.
They say server positions can earn plenty in tips.
And, many jobs don’t require previous experience.
“We’re really looking for employees that have the natural ability to serve, smiling is a big one. As they say, you can’t teach a smile but you can certainly teach people to operate a system,” said Josh Herman, director of marketing at the resort.
Donna Pickering has looked for a job since she moved to Coachella six weeks ago.
She says she’d rather be a customer at the spa but she’ll take what she can get.
“I’m sure they have restaurant areas something to that nature, if there’s openings I’m there,” said Pickering.
Management says you can drop off your application in person or apply online.
