Missing CHP Plane Found Near Salton Sea
The California Highway Patrol tells News Channel 3 that a CHP plane, Cessna 206, and its pilot were found late Friday afternoon after missing somewhere in the region of the Salton Sea. The pilot had been killed.
Details are very limited right now, but the FAA tells KESQ the last contact with its base was 10:24 a.m. and the pilot said he was near Imperial at the time.
Other law enforcement agencies joined the search throughout the day, but rescuers still had not found the plane or the pilot at 5 p.m.
At 6pm, News Channel 3 got confirmation the plane and the deceased pilot were found.
