Deputies Catch Two Drivers After License Suspension

Two people who had their licenses suspended or revoked during court hearings today in Murrieta were subsequently caught behind the wheel and had their vehicles impounded as a result, authorities said.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department conducted a sting operation between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Southwest Detention Center to nab defendants who had lost their driving privileges, said Sgt. Kevin McDonald.

He said plainclothes deputies observed court proceedings to identify people whose sentences included a suspension or revocation of their license. The individuals were then followed out to their vehicles.

“Subjects who had another licensed driver (transport) them, or those who left their cars safely parked, left without further consequence,” McDonald said. “Two subjects who drove away … with suspended or revoked driver licenses were stopped … and issued citations.”

Their vehicles were also impounded, he said.
