Police Search For Men Who Pistol Whipped Mecca Man
Several men who pistol-whipped a 28-year-old man in Mecca were at large today, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.
Deputies responded at 9:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of several men beating a man near Sixth and Lincoln streets, Lt. Terrence Tingle said.
The victim, who told detectives that a group of men had pistol-whipped him and made their getaway in a small white car, was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, he said.
Earlier that night, deputies received a report of shots fired by a group of five men in a small white car, possible a Kia, Tingle said. Deputies searched the area for 90 minutes, but did not find any suspects.
Anyone with information about the assault or shooting was asked to call the sheriff’s department at (760) 863-3215.
