Meg Whitman Visits Indio Monday Morning On Campaign Swing
Republican candidate for governor Meg Whitman made an appearance at Sun City Shadow Hills in Indio Monday morning where she met supporters. With just one week and day until the mid-term elections, she was joined by Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack.
In Whitman’s bid to defeat her Democratic opponent Jerry Brown, a Los Angeles Times-USC poll released over the weekend shows Brown has extended his lead to double digits.
Of the voters surveyed, 52 percent favored Brown while 39 percent said they’d vote for Whitman.
Nonetheless, Whitman isn’t giving much stock to the poll.
?I think that was bunk,? she told News Channel 3. ?That was a very biased poll. The LA Times typically does that before every election, and so our internal polls and a lot of other polls show the race much closer or even me ahead.?
Whitman spent about 45 minutes in before she was off to the Los Angeles area for a campaign stop in Westlake Village, where a protest awaits her.
The California Nurses Association is bringing a “Queen Meg” protest outside an event featuring Whitman.
The group is protesting what they call Whitman’s “lies to the public” and Wall Street values, contact says.
