Motorcycle Accident Shuts Down Highway 74

California Highway Patrol officers shut down Highway 74 in both directions above Palm Desert on Tuesday afternoon after a motorcycle accident.

The accident happened around 12:50 p.m., and it blocked both sides of the narrow roadway, according to the CHP.

The lanes were re-opened 30 minutes later.

According to Cal Fire, the 30-year-old motorcycle rider sustained major injuries, and was transported to an area hospital via air ambulance.

CHP officers were investigating the cause of the crash.
