Bank Of America Website Issues Frustrate Customers
The Bank of America website was down for nearly an hour on Tuesday morning ? and was still experiencing problems late into the morning.
The site, where bank customers can conduct banking functions, was down around 6 a.m. PST on Tuesday, and has come back on and off in waves.
KESQ.com was alerted to the problem by one of our Twitter followers:
@KESQ Can you guys access the bankofamerica website? It’s hosed here in O.C., and also Bay Area.
The bank’s website issues on Tuesday come after an outage just 6 ago. On Jan. 14, the site went down for nearly the entire day.
Hackers who were upset over the bank’s decision to stop accepting payments from WikiLeaks claimed responsibility for that. Not so, this time.
Mashable.com reports it’s Bank of America’s problem.
They quote Bank of America spokeswoman Tara Burke, who said the problems with the site are a result of routine upgrades made over the weekend.
“The slowness wasn?t reportedly affecting any particular region,” she told the website, “but the current disrupted service seems to be widespread. We?ve heard from customers in New Jersey, Georgia, Washington, D.C., and California who can?t access their accounts.
The disruption comes at an inconvenient time for many customers who pay bills on the first of the month.
