Living Desert Holds Naming Contest For Baby Jaguar

The Living Desert will give Coachella Valley children a chance to name a female jaguar at the Palm Desert zoo.

The Living Desert is holding a contest to name its newest resident, which will be unveiled at the zoo on April 1. Children 12 and under are asked to suggest a name that has an association with the jaguar’s native habitat, the Sonoran Desert.

The winner of the contest will receive a VIP tour of the Living Desert, family membership to the zoo for a year and what is being called a “Jaguar Experience.” The winner will be announced March 25.

Entries must be accompanied by a two-sentence description of why the name is appropriate.

The deadline to enter is March 21. Forms and rules can be found at the zoo’s website.
