Indian Canyon Reopens After Wind Storm

Palm Springs police took down the barricades, and re-opened the stretch of Indian Canyon between Tramway road and Interstate 10 on Wednesday afternoon.

The roadway re-opened around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police shut down the roadway on Monday after winds kicked up enough dust and debris to create near-zero-visibility on the road which links Interstate 10 to downtown Palm Springs.

News Channel 3 watched as earth movers were brought in to help remove the inches of sand that covered the road.

The shutdown was followed by the closures of Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino at the wash areas, which were re-opened Tuesday morning.
