Five People Injured In Accident That Shut Down Vista Chino
Five people were injured today, including two children, in a crash involving a possible drunken driver.
The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. on Vista Chino near Avenida Roberto Miguel, said Sgt. Marc Melanson with the Palm Springs Police Department.
One vehicle, driven by Edgar Thiemes of Germany, was going west on Vista Chino and made a left turn to go south on Roberto Miguel. The other vehicle, driven by Joy Moran of Palm Springs, was going east on Vista Chino.
The vehicles collided at the intersection, and Moran’s vehicle then struck the block wall of a nearby residence before overturning, said Melanson.
Two small children were removed from the car by fire department personnel and found to have moderate injuries. Moran had moderate injuries, and all were transported to the hospital.
Thiemes and his female passenger sustained critical injuries and were also transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Traffic investigators investigated the cause of the collision and kept the road closed for several hours to reconstruct the collision.
Officers arrested Joy Moran for DUI.
