Drivers Face Complete Shut Down Of Gene Autry Trail Exit

All freeway ramps connecting the Palm Drive/Gene Autry Trail overpass to Interstate 10 will be closed tonight while workers shift traffic to a new bridge structure and reconstruct existing ramps.

Closings began on some of the ramps Sunday night, but all of them will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. today, according to Coachella Valley Corridor Improvement Project officials. The Palm Drive/Gene Autry Trail overpass will also be closed tonight.

Starting about 3 a.m. Thursday, the overpass will reopen, as will the eastbound on-ramp and westbound off-ramp. The other two ramps will remain closed until about 5 a.m. on March 28, when the entire I-10 at Palm Drive/Gene Autry Trail interchange will be open.

The latest phase of work on the Coachella Valley Corridor Improvement Project will leave a six-lane overpass that includes bike lanes in both directions.
