Two Arrested In High Desert Sex Offender Parole Sweep

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a two-day compliance sweep of registered sex offenders in the Morongo Basin and arrested two people.

Kenneth LaPerle was taken into custody for failing to register his new address with authorities, according to a sheriff’s department spokesman.

Another sex offender was arrested on narcotics-related charges that had nothing to do with his sex crime violation.

Investigations were launched in three other cases where deputies believed sex offenders may have violated the terms of the parole by not properly registering their address.

Once the investigations are complete, the reports will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for the formal filing of charges in the Joshua Tree Superior Court, said the spokesman.
