Bin Laden’s Death Brings Closure To Local Woman’s Friends
Elizabeth Raynes couldn’t believe what she was seeing on television Sunday night.
“I thought, ‘Oh, my word! Can it possibly be?'” she said.
News of Osama Bin Laden’s stunned her. She almost lost hope that he would ever be found.
“But then, right on top of that, I was happy,” she said. “I was happy.”
Her good friend Barbara Keating was flying on American Airlines Flight #11 when terrorists crashed it into the north tower of the World Trade Center.
The two women attended the same church, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, on Ramon Rd.
“We had come to terms long ago that Barbara was with Jesus, and we were happy,” she said.
But, Bin Laden’s death brought another form of closure: Justice.
Elizabeth believes Barbara has a wider smile now.
“She’s saying, as she would all the time, ‘Be happy, relax, and enjoy it all.'”
