Local Airline Passengers React To Worldwide Travel Warning
A world-wide travel alert was put into effect amid fears terrorists will target American travelers after the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
The State Department issued the travel warning shortly after President Obama announced Bin Laden?s death Sunday night.
But the warning isn?t worrying travelers passing through the Palm Springs International Airport.
“We travel quite a bit and don’t really have any concern for it. I know they have to do it so we just go,? said Gillian Bessant, who was visiting Palm Springs From England.
The State Department warns Americans traveling to or living overseas that they should stay close to their homes or hotels and to avoid big gatherings.
According to Bessant, it?s a warning most travelers aren?t willing to follow.
“I think if you don’t go, you let them stop you from doing things. So, I think you just have to go otherwise they’re winning,” he said.
U.S. authorities have warned there could be be retaliation by other terrorist groups
It?s a concern shared by travelers but it won?t stop them from flying.
“It’s always a possibility but I feel like that it’s something that’s been a possibility since 9-11. It’s one of the risks we take when we travel,” said Vinny Stantucci, traveling to Alabama.
“I think we need to be cautious because I think there probably will be things happening. So, we just have to be cautious,? said Judy Arnold flying back home to New York.
The travel warning expires August 1.
