Betty Ford Arrives In Michigan, Final Resting Place

A plane carrying the body of former First Lady Betty Ford has landed at a Michigan airport named after her late husband.

The plane landed about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Kent County’s Cascade Township near Grand Rapids.

Republican Gov. Rick Snyder and Michigan first lady Sue Snyder are to attend a memorial service Wednesday evening at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

The public can attend a viewing at the museum and pay their respects starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A national tribute service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church.

Betty Ford’s body will be interred late Thursday at the museum along with her husband.

The public can also pay tribute to the former first lady by making contributions to:
