Suspect Captured in Palm Springs Bank Robbery

Police arrested a man who witnesses said held up a Palm Springs Bank of America branch on Wednesday morning.

The robbery was reported at 10:45 a.m. at the branch on the 5600 block of Ramon Road, which is inside the Walmart shopping center.

Officers arrived and learned the suspect had ran off from the bank across Ramon Road with money he had taken from the bank.

A short time later, police found Jeremy Derain, 28, of Murrieta, walking in the same area. He had changed some of his clothing, officers said.

Derain tried to run from police, but was arrested without incident as he ran back toward the bank.

Police said all of the money was accounted for and returned to the bank

No one was injured.
