Two Arrested In Coachella Armed Robbery
Two men were arrested for an alleged armed robbery Wednesday night, the sheriff’s department said today.
Rodolfo Ramos and Alonzo Hernandez Torrez, both 18-year-old Thermal residents, were arrested at about midnight. Coachella police and Riverside County sheriff’s deputies found their suspected getaway car in the 69400 block of Pierce Street in Thermal, sheriff’s Sgt. John Hignight said.
One of the suspects, wearing a mask, held up two males with a handgun at about 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bagdad Avenue and Shady Lane in Coachella, while the other suspect waited in a red four-door sedan. The suspects took one of the victim’s wallet, cell phone and car keys; the other was not robbed, police said. Neither of the victims, whose names were not released, was hurt, Hignight said.
He said officers recovered the stolen property and handgun allegedly used in the robbery.
Ramos and Torrez were booked into the Indio County Jail for armed robbery. They are expected to be arraigned Monday.
