Power Pole Collapses, Sparks Small Fire In Desert Hot Springs
A snapped power line whipped a Desert Hot Springs man across the head as he tried to lift the line over a delivery truck.
“Just a bump. Hurts, yeah,” said T.L. Nolan.
Nolan was trying to make a donation a his home on Cahuilla Avenue near Palm Drive.
An Angel View truck was picking up the donation in his driveway when he used a pole to lift up a low-hanging power line so the truck could get through.
“It was high enough for them to get through it. All of a sudden, the line snapped. It came down, hit me in the head. I hit the ground and it started to spark,” said Nolan.
Lucky for Nolan, he wasn’t seriously hurt. No one else was injured.
The pole crashed and destroyed a fence. A transformer that smashed on the ground sparked a fire in the back area of the home.
Firefighters kept a close watch on the fire as they waited for the power to be turned off.
Southern California Edison crews were busy making repairs after an outage in the area.
