One Fish, Two Fish, “Read” Fish, Blue Fish

It’s “Read Across America” day, in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

This annual day of awareness and encouragement urges students to realize reading can be both educational and fun.

News Channel 3’s Bianca Rae read to a second grade class at John Adams Elementary School in La Quinta.

The class’ teacher says reading both at school and at home changes children’s lives.

“It opens doors for them. Especially kids who haven’t had a lot of experiences. So if they can see the world outside of just their world here in our valley, then I think there’s a lot more opportunities available to them,” second grade teacher Kristen Smith said.

Dr. Suess would have been 108 years old today.
