Kraft Nabisco Championship Fights Hunger With FIND Food Bank
The Kraft Nabisco Championship, golf?s first major, is teaming up with Feeding America and FIND Food Bank of Indio to take a stand against hunger in America.
The gift of a new Kraft Foods Mobile Pantry truck will help FIND Food Bank deliver fresh foods to the nearly 80,000 residents of the Coachella Valley who struggle with hunger. In addition, the Kraft Nabisco Championship has set a goal to provide one million meals to the Feeding America program at this year?s tournament.
?The Kraft Nabisco Championship has a long history of partnering with charitable organizations to make a difference in the Coachella Valley community,? said David Blake-Thomas, Executive Director and Tournament Chairman. ?This year, we?ve committed to not only helping the local community through FIND Food Bank, but we?ve also partnered with Feeding America to help those facing hunger insecurities across the country. Together, we aim to help relieve some of the stress among those who do not know when their next meal is coming from.?
As the nation?s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, Feeding America is a longstanding partner of Kraft Foods in the fight against hunger. With a mission that is twofold, the organization is focused on feeding the hungry through a nationwide network made up of more than 200 member food banks and 61,000 agency partners, as well as engaging Americans to join them in the fight to end hunger. Feeding America annually serves more than 37 million Americans through their network of supporters.
In an effort to support their wonderful work, golf?s first major has set a goal to donate the monetary equivalent of 1,000,000 meals to Feeding America to assist in the national effort. With a longstanding tradition of supporting local charities, the Kraft Nabisco Championship is pleased to support FIND Food Bank, an organization that serves more than 80,000 people each month in the Coachella Valley through more than 100 nonprofit partners.
To support FIND Food Bank?s mission to end hunger in the Coachella Valley, the Kraft Nabisco Championship will donate a Kraft Foods Mobile Pantry. The refrigerated truck provides a farmers?- market-on-wheels and will be used to reach our neighbors in need in underserved areas who may not have easy access to fresh fruit, vegetables and other nutritious staples.
Featuring nearly 100 elite players in women?s golf, the 2012 Kraft Nabisco Championship takes place March 26 ? April 1 at Mission Hills Country Club.
