Thieves fail to steal Palm Desert cash machine

Police have no arrests, but are reviewing security video from the Jensen’s Market and Deli on Cook street near Hovely Lane. It was broken into early Thursday morning.

Owner Mike Zack said, “we do have some cameras and we’re looking at those right now with the deputy. The police department has taken a copy of it and see what they can turn up.”

Police say the suspect, or suspects, backed a vehicle up to the storearound 2:30 am, broke a front door then tried to steal the cash machine inside.

Zack said the suspects tried to wrap a cable around the machine and pull it out.

What they didn’t know was the machine was well secured to the concrete foundation.

They didn’t get it, instead raiding cash registers for a small amount of money.

Police are investigating the crime.
