Fire crews make quick work of Palm Desert brush fire

Cal Fire and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management made quick work in dousing a vegetation fire that was burning in the mountains above Palm Desert on Thursday.

Crews on the front-lines told KESQ they had the fire almost completely out by 1:45 p.m.

Firefighters were called to the intersection of Highway 74 and Carrizo Road around 12:30 p.m., which is located just north of Vista Point.

Two acres were burned, according to the firefighters. A couple drops by air tankers and a quick response from firefighters helped keep the fire from spreading more, they said.

Crews will stay on the scene for a couple hours to mop up the hot spots, according to Cal Fire.
