Car accident in Indian Wells sends one to hospital

One man is in the hospital after flipping his car over during an accident in Indian Wells Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Deputies on scene, just before noon, the driver of a silver Toyota Celica for an unknown reason was making a lane change and over corrected causing the car to flip over.

The accident shut down Highway 111 between Cook Street and Rancho Palmeras Drive in Indian Wells for almost an hour. The driver in the car was trapped inside for about 20 minutes before being rescued by firefighters using the” Jaws of Life”.

The driver, an unknown age male, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance but it appears his injuries are non life threatening. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
