Connie Mack going after Florida Senate seat
Florida Congressman Connie Mack, husband of valley Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack is now officially the Republican nominee for senate. And it’s a race that could have a huge impact on the Presidential race this year.
Mack easily won the Republican Senate primary in Florida Tuesday night, that means he’ll take on Democratic Senator Bill Nelson in November. Mack will try to win back the seat once held by his father. Nelson won the seat in 2000 after the elder Mack retired.
In a recent interview with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack, News Channel Three asked her about her husband’s Senate race. Florida, as we all remember from 2000, is a crucial battleground state, and how Mack’s Senate race goes, may determine the outcome of the presidential race.
“Connie wasn’t orginally a candidate for that seat, but when we realized how important it was, we decided he would go for it.” Bono Mack said, “It’s a long shot going against an incumbant, by with this election being so terribly important, my family is all in,” Bono Mack added.
Tune into News Channel Three next Tuesday night at 6 to hear much more from the interview with Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack about her own campaign.
Also next week, an interview with the Congreswoman’s challenger, Dr. Raul Ruiz.
