Two arrested in Cathedral City for thefts

Palm Springs police arrested two people Friday in connection with several thefts occurring in the Coachella Valley, according to a press statement Saturday.

Officers were conducting an investigation of wanted persons tied to stolen property and identity theft and arrested the suspects identified as Martin Wayne Ortega and Marisol De La Fuente at a hotel on East Palm Canyon Drive, the statement read.

Ortega, 32-year-old Cathedral City resident, was arrested for a felony warrant, the statement said, without incident. Multiple items of stolen property and evidence of identity theft were recovered in relation to thefts, which occurred in Palm Springs and other Coachella Valley cities, authorities said.

De La Fuente was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia and violating the terms of her parole, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed against the two suspects, the statement said.
