Palm Springs Tram closes for annual maintenance
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will close for annual maintenance today and is tentatively scheduled to reopen Sept. 24.
“We will be replacing the Tram car’s rotating floors, repositioning the track cables over the towers as required by the manufacturer every 12 years,” said Tram general manager Rob Parkins.
Workers will also install two new helipads, inspect haul rope sockets and test the tram’s drives in keeping with state requirements. Parts of the Valley and Mountain stations will be cleaned, refurbished and painted, he said.
“We plan these projects during our annual shutdown so that our customers are not inconvenienced,” he said.
