Motorcyclist Taken To Hospital After Crashing on Highway 74

A motorcyclist is taken to the hospital after crashing his bike on Highway 74 near Vista Point Friday afternoon.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. on Highway 74 near Vista Point. CHP officers shut down the roadway in both directions for almost an hour to rescue and investigate the crash scene.

According to an officer on scene, witnesses reported, that a 36 year old resident from Bermuda Dunes was traveling Northbound on Highway 74 at a high rate of speed and was passing vehicles unsafely before losing control of his bike crashing on the side of the road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The rider was transported to the hospital with major injuries. The roadway reopened to traffic at 4:20 p.m.
