Man Arrested for Making Moonshine

Banning Police get more than they bargained for when they attempted to serve a warrant at a home on King Street.

Banning Police say that just before 5 p.m. Saturday, officers went to arrest James Jonathan Collins at the home. Collins was standing in the garage when officers arrived. While placing Collins under arrest they smelled a strong odor coming from an enclosed portion of the garage.

Further investigation revealed that Collins was making Moonshine and operating a working still. Banning Police called in Cal Fire to render the scene safe and dismantle it for evidence.

Collins was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for illegal distillation of an alcoholic beverage.
