Human Remains Found in Desert Area Northwest of Palm Springs

Human bones were found Thursday in the desert on the edge of Palm Springs by people collecting items for recycling, a police sergeant said.

The bones were found about 50 feet from Tipton Road, about a half-mile northwest of the intersection of Tipton and the railroad tracks southeast of Whitewater Adobe Park. Palm Springs police were told of the find at 3:05 p.m., and detectives went to the scene, Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.

“It is not known at this time how long the remains have been at the location and there is no indication as to a cause of death,” which will be determined through an autopsy, Kovaleff said.

Anybody with information was asked to contact the Palm Springs Police Department at (760) 323-8116 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
