International Tamale Festival kicks off Saturday

The 21st International Tamale Festival kicks off Saturday morning in Downtown Indio, with more than 70 vendors ready to share homemade tamales with the public.

“You can go from one stand to the next, and see a completely different approach to making a tamal,” said Marcos Robles with Cardenas, “While they may have used the same product, and get a completely different flavor.”

The festival will feature more than 200 vendors, carnival rides, a petting zoo, and four stages of entertainment.

Parking and attendance is free.
The festival will take place on, and close, the following streets between Highway 111 and Indio Blvd.: Miles, Towne, Smurr, and Requa.

Food Network has rated the Indio International Tamale Festival as one of the Top Ten Food Festivals across the globe.
