Canadian Job Fair

Hundreds of people lined-up today in Indio, hoping to get a job that would take them north, to Canada.
7 Canadian-based construction companies are looking to recruit 40,000 people to work in British Columbia, due to their economic boom and shortage of construction workers.
Everyone from carpenters and plumbers, to welders and electrical engineers turned out for today’s job fair.
Riverside County Foregin Trade Commissioner, Tom Freeman says some skilled construction workers haven’t found steady work for the past 4 years. He says, “It shows the need for jobs we have in our region, to see people lined up at 6am to get a job interview, to see if they can travel to Canada, to work.”
Close to 12,00 people were expected to attend the job fair.
