Cold storm could bring rain, snow
It will be mostly sunny throughout Riverside County today ahead of a cold low pressure system expected to bring rain and possible snow to the region starting late Wednesday, forecasters said.
The system out of the Gulf of Alaska will move through southwest California late Wednesday through Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Rainfall amounts from the system were expected to range anywhere from a half-inch to up to two inches in the valleys and mountains. A quarter-inch or less was expected in the Coachella Valley.
The snow level Thursday should fall to around 4,000 to 4,500 feet, with several inches of snowfall possible above 5,000 feet, according to the Weather Service, which said isolated thunderstorms were possible Thursday.
Temperatures on Thursday will be 10 to 15 degrees below average for this time of year, according to a NWS advisory.
Highs today were expected to be in the low 70s in the Inland Empire, mid-50s to mid-60s in the mountains, and low 70s in the Coachella Valley.
