Local gas prices fall for 25th straight day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regulargasoline in the Inland Empire fell today for the 25th consecutive day, droppinga half-cent to $4.086.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 6.3 centsless than one week ago, 20.2 cents lower than one month ago and 26.4 centsbelow what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil PriceInformation Service.

The average price has dropped 20.5 cents during the 25-day streak ofdeclines, including four-tenths of a cent on Sunday.

The average price rose 30 times in the 31 days preceding the streak ofdeclines, increasing 57.5 cents over that span.

The dropping prices are the result of most California refineriesconcluding scheduled maintenance without experiencing any major incidentsbefore the switch to summer-blend production, leaving adequate gasolinesupplies, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of SouthernCalifornia.
