Man accused of sexually assaulting another man arrested in Palm Springs
A 28-year-old Escondido man suspected of sexuallyassaulting a male acquaintance in Palm Springs was expected in court today.
Urbano Ricardo Rosas was arrested at about 7:50 p.m. on Sunday in the2100 block of Calle Papagayo, where a sexual assault was reported. A 21-year-old Moreno Valley man told police he had been sexually assaulted by a maleacquaintance in the backyard of a vacant home under construction, Palm Springspolice Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said.
The alleged victim sustained unspecified injuries during the assault andwas transported to a local hospital.
Rosas was arrested at a residence across the street from the location ofthe alleged assault and taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility inBanning, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He was booked onsuspicion of sodomy by use of force or injury, sodomy of an unconscious orasleep victim and oral copulation by use of force or injury. He was expected tobe arraigned today at the Larson Justice Center in Indio, according to jailrecords.
No criminal charges had been filed as of this morning, according tocourt records. Kovaleff said police got surveillance video of the attack fromcameras at the location.
