Armed gang member arrested
Palm Springs police were called to a family disturbance on the 300 block of Sunview Ave in Palm Springs about 5:30pm Saturday.
When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. Officers contacted three occupants in the vehicle who all had gang contacts.
The driver, Darius Lee, a documented gang member, had an open container of alcohol in his vehicle and was found to be on probation.
Officers searched Lee’s vehicle and found a loaded handgun in a hidden compartment.
Darius Lee was arrested for gang member in possession of a handgun andammunition in public, both felonies. As well as,
violating his probation.
Police say Lee and the other occupants were not part of the original disturbance, but happened to be stopped in the middle of the street in the same area.
