East valley ice cream man accused of exposing himself to children
An east valley ice cream man will have to answer to indecent exposure charges in June after police say they caught the Coachella man exposing himself to children.
Police arrested Israel Valdez Ayala, 40, Sunday after receiving complaints about his alleged lewd behavior over the prior week.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said it’s also looking for other possible victims.
In a release Monday the department said deputies responded to an indecent exposure call in the area of Mazatlan Drive in Coachella Monday April 15.
Callers said a man driving an ice cream truck exposed himself to a young girl while selling ice cream.
Coachella police searched the area, but failed to locate a suspect.
Police responded to a second indecent exposure call Thursday, April 20, in the area of Pedro Drive at 3:15 p.m.
The suspect was again described as driving an ice cream truck and exposing himself to a young girl after selling her ice cream.
Officers searched the area and this time located and arrested Ayala.
The sheriff’s department said no one was hurt in either incident.
Ayala was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for indecent exposure. He posted $2,500 bail Sunday and was released from custody.
Ayala was ordered to appear in court in June for misdemeanor exposure.
The Coachella Police Department said anyone with information, or who might have been a victim, should contact Investigator Matthew Diaz from the Thermal Sheriff’s Station Investigations Bureau at 760-863-8814.
