3.9-magnitude earthquake hits beneath Salton Sea

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit the southern part of the Salton Sea today just after noon.

The quake hit 6 miles west of Niland, California. The epicenter was located a mile and a half below the surface of the Salton Sea’s southwest corner, according to the United States Geological Survey.

There have been no reports of injury or damage at this time.
