President Obama plays golf after concluding talks

A few hours after saying goodbye to China’s leader, President Barack Obama said hello to the golf course.

The White House says Obama played golf Saturday with three childhood friends from Hawaii, where he grew up.

The trip to the links, despite sweltering heat in Rancho Mirage, came several hours after the president’s second and final round of “getting-to-know-you” talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Sunnylands resort. Obama is staying at the estate, which has a nine-hole golf course.

An avid golfer, Obama played golf on each of his past four weekends in Washington.

The White House says friends Mike Ramos, Bobby Titcomb and Greg Orme completed Obama’s foursome.

He is scheduled to return to the White House Sunday evening.
