Billboard in Cathedral City designed by 8th grader

A billboard designed by a local eighth-graderwill be unveiled in Cathedral City tomorrow.

Nellie Coffman Middle School student Alecea Lerma won LamarAdvertising’s “Help Shape the Community” contest, and her drawing will beunveiled on a billboard Tuesday morning on Date Palm Drive just south of VistaChino.

The ceremony is scheduled for 8 a.m. Palm Springs Unified SchoolDistrict spokeswoman Joan Boiko said Nellie Coffman eighth-grade math teacherJohn Stevens helped choose the top submissions for the contest.
