Friday night DUI checkpoint planned in Palm Springs
The Palm Springs Police Department will operate aDUI checkpoint Friday night at an undisclosed location.
Beginning at 8:30 p.m., and continuing until 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officers will look for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and make suredrivers are carrying valid driver’s licenses, Sgt. Harvey Reed said.
Checkpoints reduce crashes, Reed said, noting that people arrested onsuspicion of DUI could face jail time, suspension of driver’s licenses andhigher insurance premiums.
The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office ofTraffic Safety.
