Hathaway Fire 85% contained

Firefighters maintained slow but steady progress Friday in their effort to contain the Hathaway fire burning in the San Gorgonio Wilderness east of Banning. At last report, fire commanders estimated the fire was 85 percent contained, up from 83 percent Thursday morning, with the area scorched by the fire remaining at 3,823 acres, according to the U.S. Forest Service, the lead agency in battling the blaze.
