Charges filed against man who allegedly tried to shoot girlfriend
An attempted murder charge was filed today against aThousand Palms man who allegedly choked and tried to shoot his girlfriend afteran argument.
Daryl Inigo Freeman, 27, was also charged with one felony count each ofassault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, spousal injury andvandalism. He was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the LarsonJustice Center in Indio.
Freeman was arrested Friday outside a residence in the 31600 block ofChimayo Road in Thousand Palms. The assault was reported by the 25-year-oldalleged victim’s sister, sheriff’s Sgt. David Wright said.
Following an argument, Freeman “pulled out a revolver, left one bulletin the cylinder, and threatened to kill himself or his girlfriend,” accordingto the sergeant.
“Freeman spun the cylinder, pointed the revolver at the victim, andpulled the trigger,” Wright alleged. “The gun did not fire.”
Freeman allegedly choked the woman, but she was able to get away. A .44-caliber revolver was found at the scene, and Freeman was detained withoutincident, Wright said.
Freeman was being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the county jail inIndio, according to jail records.
