Inland Empire gas price drops
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire fell eight-tenths of a cent Friday to $3.99, the second consecutive decrease after 10 consecutive increases.
The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 3.6 cents more than one week ago and 13.4 cents higher than one month ago, but 12.6 cents less than one year ago.
The average price had increased 18 times in the 20 days through Wednesday, rising 19.2 cents during the span, then decreased seven-tenths of a cent on Thursday.
“Supply issues that were reportedly the cause of this latest spike have apparently been resolved through restored production at local refineries,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
“We saw some small reductions in the last two days in Southern California average retail prices after local wholesale gasoline prices dropped significantly at the start of the week. If that trend holds, we should see further reductions at the pump.”
