Big rig driver dies after collision near railroad tracks in Coachella

Authorities say a big rig driver has died after a collision that happened at 5:52 a.m. Monday morning in Coachella.

CAL FIRE and Riverside County Firefighters responded to the scene at Grapefruit Boulevard and Harrison Street.

Firefighters on the scene say the driver collided with a tree.

The big rig is stopped on the railroad tracks.

While no trains were involved in the collision, Union Pacific train traffic has been stopped in both directions.
