Seniors compete for most attractive septuagenarians & octogenarians in the state
A Corona senior was crowned as this year’s queen during the Ms. Emeritus California Pageant where some of the most attractive septuagenarians and octogenarians in the state competed.
More than 400 people showed up Saturday for the festive event where Dorothy Poteet was named as Ms. Emeritus 2013. The event, which was themed “Joy in Our Journey”, featured finalists from regional pageants in Anaheim, Corona, Garden Grove, Hemet, Palm Springs and other cities and was held at the Riverside Events Center.
Pageant spokeswoman Mary Beth Dagg said $4,300 was raised. Proceeds from the pageant will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, organizers said.
“Joy in Our Journey’ is a positive affirmation that aging does not have to mean giving up on life’s joys, aspirations and dreams,” spokeswoman Melissa Matkins said. “What better way to celebrate that ideal than to see 12 women — all over the age of 75 — being recognized of their beauty, talent and grace?”
