Desert Hot Springs still facing big budget gap

The Desert Hot Springs city council will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss the city’s financial situation and the 2014/2015 budget.

News Channel 3 has learned that the city is facing a $3.5 million dollar budget shortfall and is depending on Measure F to help balance the budget. Measure F is a vacant parcel tax on the June 3rd primary ballot. It would raise the vacant parcel tax from $30 to $372.

The city council will meet Monday at 4:30 p.m. For a closed session followed by an open session at 6:00 p.m..
