Dogs left in hot car up for adoption
The owner of two dogs left inside a hot car on Monday afternoon in Indio relinquished the dogs to Riverside County Animal Services. According to spokesman John Welsh, the two terriers are now immediately available for adoption.
The female with the white fluffy coat is named Simba, and the male, with shorter, curly black fur, is named Scar. Welsh said both dogs are unaltered and 9 months old.
They’re being cared for at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus at 72050 Pet Land Place, Thousand Palms, 92276.
Welsh said their adoption fees are $105 each, which includes their spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchips. Riverside County Animal Services said the dogs must be adopted as a packaged deal so they can keep them together.
Shelter employees reserve the right to screen potential adopters.
Welsh said dog licenses will also be required if the person adopting the dogs lives within Riverside County Animal Services’ jurisdiction. Dog licenses for altered dogs are $16 within the county.
To get them adoption-ready, Ritzi Rover, a grooming business in Palm Desert, called Animal Services to ask whether the shop’s groomers could freshen up the dogs.

Animal Services said they’re still at the shelter seeking a good home.
